Educational Qualifications

Graduated in Science with Chemistry as principle subject from South Gujarat University in the year 1994.

Masters in Science with Organic Chemistry as principle subject from South Gujarat University in the year 1996.

Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Sardar Patel University on the title“Synthesis, Characterization and Material Applications of azo dyes based on derivatives of hydroxy benzophenones” in the year 2008

Biography

Dr Hitendra M. Patel is a Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the Sardar Patel University, V. V. Nagar 388 120, Gujarat, India. He was an Elected Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Organic Chemistry Community Council (20-2023) and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London in 2020. He acts as Editor in Material Science Research (India), Associate Editor, Frontiers in Chemistry (Switzerland) He serve as an Editorial board and review board member in many international high repute journals. He has 27 and 19 years of rich experience in Teaching and Research respectively. His research interests include the Development of Bioactive Heterocyclic Scaffolds via Multi-component reactions, with a focus on Green Chemistry approaches and Medicinal Chemistry, including synthesis of small molecules, virtual and biomolecular screening. He has been granted RSC Sustainable Laboratory Grant Awards 1000 £ from Royal Society of Chemistry,UK. He also completed two projects to the tune of rupees 51.81 lakhs from National agencies like DST-SERB and UGC, New Delhi. He was selected as Brand ambassador of Bentham Science Publisher (2018-2019). He received International Travel Support (2019) from DST-SERB, New Delhi. He had given many invited talks (more than 35) at the National and International levels at Conferences and Universities. He had given invited guest Lecture at Oxford University, Oxford, UK (May-2023) and also in The Bio Lab, De La Laguana University, Spain (2019). He has received number of awards such as The Renato Dulbecco Memorial Award (2024) from World Cancer Congress-2024 at AIIMS, JNU Conventional Centre, New Delhi, India; the Outstanding Contribution Award for reviewing the Journal of Molecular Structure; and also received Distinguished Faculty in Science Award-2017 by Venus International Foundation, Chennai, India. He worked as an Expert reviewer in many International Journals such as ACS, RSC, Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor & Fancies, and Springer including other Journals and received Top 2% Peer Reviewer Award in Chemistry (2018-2019) from Publons. He has published 56 research papers, 1 Patent, 5 review papers, and 03 books and 03 Chapters; He has total citations of 1027 and H-index of 21, i-10 index of 30.
